~ Oil List ~
Here's an alphabetical list of oils that I use for our Soaps & Lip Balms - these words are straight from the manufacturer unless otherwise noted!
Applejack Peel (Type): This smells just like the yummiest apple you have ever had the privilege of eating and then some. It has hot and spicy top notes of cinnamon and cloves rounding down to the mellow scent of red apples. Men love this one! It is especially popular during the fall and winter months when all anyone wants to do is cuddle up in front of the fire! Used in Thanksgiving Feast
Aquolina Pink: Aquolina Pink Sugar smells just like a fabulously adult cotton candy. It does discolor soap a dark brown and loses some of its sweeter top notes in CP soap but is so amazing in lotions, body sprays and bath oils! It is a duplication of the wonderful designer fragrance. The main notes are Vanilla, Sandalwood and Sweet Heliotrope. It seems to have a fruity note in there - maybe a sweet maraschino cherry too? Used in Yay for Boobies!
Christmas Forrest (limited edition):This smells like the forest did when you were a kid (chopping down that Christmas tree with your folks) -- piney, brisk and fresh. It's a fantastic "woodsy" scent; the pine notes really come out in the soap. Used in Lump of Coal
Clary Sage Essential Oil: Clary Sage is well known for its balancing properties. Used in PMS blends, it is reputed to help with menopause and menstrual cramps. This Clary Sage is sourced in America and smells richer and more smooth than the Russian or Chinese sourced Clary Sage. Used in Blarney!
Clove Bud Essential Oil: Syzygium aromaticum/Madagascar/Flower Bud. The best clove oil is distilled from the whole dried flower buds of the clove tree. Inferior oils are distilled from the leaves and stems and are sometimes sold as clove oil without any designation of the source. Clove bud oil has a powerful, spicy-fruity, warm, sweet aroma. Clove oil is highly irritating to the skin and should be handled with caution. Aromatherapy benefits: warming, comforting. Safety Data: Mildly toxic by skin contact. Avoid during pregnancy. *Note* I've used the soaps myself and have had no issues - but be warned! Use at your own risk! Used in Suds of David
Cranberry Fig: An excellent compromise between the tart bite of Cranberries and the sweet, mild allure of Fig. Cranberries and Figs are made even more striking by adding a smattering of Blood Orange and Pink Grapefruit notes to the mix. Used in Thanksgiving Feast
Energy: A stimulating blend of Citrus, including Grapefruit, Lemon and Lime, with hints of fresh Cucumber and Jasmine, and a touch of Pineapple, Blackberry and Champagne. Energy is an exciting mix that's perfect for spring and summer. Used in This is Only a Test
Frankincense and Myrrh:
This traditional Christmas fragrance smells deep, smoky and rich. Though it
does discolor (because of the Vanilla and Cinanmon), it is a classic holiday
blend you won't want to be without! Our Frankincense and Myrrh has notes of
Amber and Vanilla to warm up the blend. Used in Glittery
Ghoul
Ginger-Orange: Based on the wildly popular
Crabtree and Evelyn's Ginger Orange Cooking Aroma Spray, this seasonal fragrance
is upbeat and spicy. It contains notes of fresh orange and spicy ginger with
hints of cinnamon and balsam. This fragrance is heavier on the biting notes
of ginger than the orange, making it a wonderful Holiday scent. Used in
Lump of Coal
Ginger Peach: Peaches
are amazingly juicy and sweet all by themselves, and this blend has just the
right amount of Ginger to give your lip balms a kick while still being fruity
and fun. Used in Kissable Uisce
Gingersnap: This is the quintessential holiday fragrance. Our
Gingersnap has some additional spice notes to give it that extra spark of Caraway
Seed, Cinnamon, Cardamom with Vanilla to warm up and compliment the spices.
Used in Autumnal Eve
Herbal Essence (type): This fragrance is reminiscent of Clairol's Herbal Essence shampoo from the 1970s - but not an exact duplication. Our Herbal Essence is sweet, and full of floral and fruit notes yet despite all those florals, still appealing to both sexes. The blend contains deep woody base notes, and rises to the notes of heather, jasmine and ylang ylang. The top notes include lime, grapefruit and bergamot. Overall, it's a juicy fruity floral sensation that just begs to be used! Used in Flowers 4 Ma
Lavender, Hungarian Essential Oil: Although this is the same botanical flower as the Provence Lavender, our Hungarian Lavender essential oil is less camphorous and more green in scent. It is velvety and smooth instead of the more bold Provence. Used in Sleepy Time Soap, This is Only a Test - Runner's Dream
Lemon Essential Oil: Our Lemon essential oil smells like a fresh sliced lemon without that cleaning product note that so many lemon oils have. Lemon is thought to help with concentration and to reduce cellulite when used in body oils and scrubs. This highly astringent oil helps oily skin and hair and is often added to facial cleansers and hair tonics. The book Aromatherapy: Soothing Remedies to Restore, Rejuvenate & Heal says lemon essential oil is good for acne, boils, oily skin & an exfoliant with medicinal properties being antiseptic, antirheumatic, anti-toxic, antispasmodic, astringent, bactericidal, etc. Used in This is Only a Test - Runner's Dream, Mother Knows Best
Orange Valencia Essential Oil: Orange essential oil is a very light oil. Orange is a light and airy mood enhancer that blends well with almost anything and is great in room spritzers and pillow sprays. Used in Halloween Orange
Patchouli Essential Oil: At our customer's request we have found a lovely Patchouli essential oil. The scent is earthy and deep. Wonderful for blending, use it as a dependable, long lasting anchor for your mixes. We love how it blends when combined with English Rose or Lavender essential Oil. Many web sites tout its usefulness as a treatment for acne, as an antibacterial, and as an insect repellant. Used in Refreshmint
Peppermint Essential Oil - (2nd distillation): Redistilled oils are reheated after the steam distillation. A portion of the the oil (waxes, di methyl sulfide) is then taken out of the peppermint giving the redistilled oil a higher menthol content and a more traditional mint (candy cane) smell. Used in Candy Cane Insane, This is Only a Test - Runner's Dream
Roman Chamomile Essential Oil - Roman Chamomile Essential Oil is often use for relaxing (inhalation or diluting and dabbing on pulse points), and insomnia. The components of Chamomile are also said to be good for anti-spasming properties and headaches. The book Aromatherapy: Soothing Remedies to Restore, Rejuvenate & Heal says its physical benefits are for acne, boils, dermatitis, inflammations, broken capillaries while its medicinal properties are analgesic, antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, digestive, etc. Used in Mother Knows Best
Rosehip Seed Essential Oil -
The excerpt below was taken from this website: http://www.uncleharrys.com/infobase/product/rosehip.php.
Rosehip Seed Oil Vs Aging or Damaged Skin: Rosehip seed oil has remarkable skin
rejuvenating properties. It is extremely effective against irregular skin pigmentation,
burns, and early aging wrinkles. In fact, Rosehip seed oil is recommended for
people who spend much of their time in the sun as it reduces the appearance
of wrinkles and premature aging often associated with exposure to the sun. Scientific
research has shown that the oil contains substances that retard the aging process
of the skin. A five month study of women living in sunny climates who showed
symptoms of photoaging, or surface wrinkles, brown spots, eyelids, etc, revealed
that applying Rosehip seed oil everyday actually worked in causing surface wrinkles
to disappear, spots to fade until, at the end of the fourth month, the disappearance
became almost complete. Skin presented a smooth and fresh aspect and the spots
had almost disappeared. Used in Mother
Knows Best
Sleigh Ride: With a top note of Orange, followed by a middle note of Green Apple and winding down to peppermint and cloves, this scent is so fantastic that we decided to carry it all year instead of just at holiday time. Used in Lump of Coal
Tea Tree Essential Oil: Long used for its antiseptic properties, Tea Tree is normally found in acne products (soaps, lotions, pimple creams, masks etc...). You can also use it in anti-fungal creams and powders. Used in Refreshmint
Vanilla Select: This is the sweetest, most rich vanilla that we carry. An absolute must for your soaping pleasure. It discolors to a creamy dark tan. Used in Suds of David
